What happens if I need to cancel my chiropractic appointment?

What happens if I need to cancel my chiropractic appointment?

Chiropractic adjustments restore the alignment of your spine, relieve pain, and allow your joints to have full range of motion. Auto accident injuries, sciatica, carpal tunnel, headaches, neck, and low back pain are just a few conditions that respond well to chiropractic adjustments. Oviedo Injury and Wellness Center is a full-service accident injury clinic. Our number one goal is to give you pain relief as quickly as possible. Oviedo’s top chiropractor, Dr. Ressler uses a chiropractic method that is highly effective and involves no twisting or cracking. His innovative chiropractic technique incorporates the use of a specialized adjusting instrument called the “activator.” The activator is a spring-loaded device that adjusts each joint individually, one at a time. This is why all adjustments performed at OIWC are simple, effective and pain free.

Whether a patient is new to chiropractic care or has been involved in an auto accident, Dr. Ressler will perform a thorough initial examination to determine your injuries. After your preliminary exam, he will prescribe a custom treatment plan that is designed to treat your specific condition and injuries.

Once he has reviewed the injury recovery protocol (treatment plan) with you, the OIWC staff will schedule your visits accordingly. At each appointment, Dr. Ressler will use the activator device to slowly move the misaligned joint back into alignment. Depending on the extent of your injuries or condition, you may only hold the adjustment for a couple of hours to a couple of days. How long your adjustment will last is contingent on the amount of damage to the joint and soft tissue. Age, previous injuries, and your work environment also affect the time an adjustment will last. Your individual response to care will ultimately dictate the frequency of chiropractic adjustments you will need in the beginning. Therefore, you may start with frequent appointments for the first week, that eventually will be spaced out as your pain levels improve. Most people see significant improvement with in the first 3-4 visits. If you do not respond to chiropractic care, then Dr. Ressler will refer you to the appropriate medical provider (Ex orthopedic, physical therapy, neurologist) As an experienced Oviedo injury chiropractor, Dr. Ressler will monitor your progress at every appointment to ensure you are healing properly. The number of chiropractic treatments will be reduced as your injury recovery progresses. It is very important to follow Dr. Ressler’s treatment plan to heal properly and prevent lifelong issues. OIWC understands that life can be unpredictable and due to unforeseen circumstances, you may miss a chiropractic adjustment.

So, you may be asking “what happens if I miss a chiropractic adjustment?” “Should I adjust myself?”

Absolutely NOT! Dr. Ressler recommends NEVER adjusting yourself. Dr. Ressler has over 23 years of experience as a board-certified chiropractor in Oviedo, FL. Before adjusting a patient, he performs the above-mentioned comprehensive exam to determine which joints are out of alignment and need to be adjusted. NEVER EVER adjust yourself! Even if you can get your neck or back to “pop,” you may make your injuries worse and cause more damage. Only a licensed board-certified chiropractor should perform an adjustment.

Therefore, if you are unable to make it to your appointment at OIWC, do not panic. Oviedo Injury and Wellness Center has same day appointments and flexible hours (Mon, Wed, Fri until 7 pm and Tues, Thurs until 1 pm) so you can get the care you need.
