Are you looking for a local chiropractor? Here’s why you should choose Oviedo Injury and Wellness Center!

If you have never been to a chiropractor, you are probably wondering, what is a chiropractic adjustment? A chiropractic adjustment as defined by the Mayo Clinic, “Chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which trained specialists (chiropractors) use their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. The goal of this procedure, also known as spinal manipulation, is to improve spinal motion and improve your body's physical function.” (https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/chiropractic-adjustment/about/pac-20393513)

This may sound great, but if you are new to chiropractic care or you have watched chiropractic YouTube videos, the thought of a chiropractic adjustment may make you feel nervous. You may be worried that an adjustment could make your pain worse or cause you to be in more pain afterwards. As an Oviedo injury doctor, Dr. Ressler utilizes a no twisting or cracking chiropractic technique. By using a special instrument called the “activator,” he can slowly and gently move the misaligned bones back into alignment. The activator is a small handheld spring-loaded device used to adjust the spine and extremities. It only moves the specific individual vertebra out of alignment back into correct position. It is very gentle, yet highly effective. The best part is that it is pain free.

Unlike a manual adjustment, the activator technique is more precise. Manual adjustments involve twisting, cracking, or manipulating the spine to forcefully move several joints at once. Only a light impulse is delivered by the activator to the specific misaligned joint without excessive force. This allows the activator technique to have no or minimal unwanted side-effects. Dr. Ressler is Oviedo’s top injury chiropractor and believes in correcting misalignments over time. This way you are unlikely to experience discomfort or soreness after your adjustment. Depending on your injury or the amount of damage you have sustained, your spine may stay in alignment after the adjustment for a couple of hours or days. After the first or second adjustment, you may feel a sensation as if you worked out. This is because you are not used to being adjusted so you might experience a slight soreness that usually only lasts for a few hours. Because of Dr. Ressler’s gentle technique, most OIWC patients tend to have improved mobility and may get immediate pain relief after only one adjustment!

Many injuries, symptoms and chronic conditions respond well to the activator method. Do you have auto accident injuries, sciatica, carpal tunnel, headaches, numbness and tingling in the arms or legs, neck, and low back pain? Well, then the activator method is a great all-natural pain-relieving option for you.

In addition to the activator method, Dr. Ressler also uses a special table called a “Flexion distraction table.” The flexion distraction table is designed to treat disc injuries and prevent surgery. It utilizes traction of the bone/vertebral segments to decompress the cervical and lumbar discs. Due to the mechanism of the table, Dr. Ressler can adjust your low back without any painful cracking or twisting.

Along with chiropractic care, Dr. Ressler will design a complete exercise/stretching plan that involves treatment performed in office as well as exercises you can do at home. He will also teach you proper ergonomics to increase productivity and reduce chances of injury at your workplace or home.
