How to Motivate Yourself To Exercise

HOW TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO EXERCISE

The importance of exercise and the positive impact it can make on your life is no secret. Regular exercise keeps your body in balance, helps relieve pain, assists in weight loss and improves your overall mood. Exercising helps you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight because it causes your body to burn more calories.  However, many people have a hard time motivating themselves to get out and get physical. Here are some simple motivational techniques you can try to help you actually feel like exercising:

Start off slow and work your way up

Try working out one day a week and gradually increase to three days a week. Stick to a consistent schedule of just working out one day a week, this way you will not feel overwhelmed. Once you feel comfortable, add another day to your routine. This will enable you to achieve your fitness goal at a reasonable pace and increase your chances of success.

Write down your weight loss/wellness goals and remind yourself why you started

More often than not we forget why we started our journey to a healthier life. Writing down your goals will help you remember why you set out for wellness in the first place.

Create a work out group and commit to days that you will exercise together

Working out with family or friends can make exercising more fun and enjoyable. Whether it is hitting the gym or walking it helps to commit to work out with loved ones a few days a week. They can assist you with support and motivation when you are feeling sluggish.

Remind yourself how good you will feel afterwards and that you will regret not exercising

It’s common knowledge that exercising releases endorphins that make us feel generally good. Try and remember a recent scenario where you felt “so good” after exercising. This will remind you  how much you will regret if you don’t exercise for that day. This will help you remain positive and keep a healthier lifestyle.

Keep motivational notes nearby and around you

Keeping motivational quotes or images near by can help inspire you to keep towards your exercise regime.

Commit to a long-term goal like a fitness classes, 5k, or photo shoot

If you prepay for a long-term goal such as a 5K or sessions for a fitness class you will not want to waste your money by not attending. This will help keep you on track to achieving your fitness goals.

Reward yourself for sticking to your exercise routine

Reward yourself for a job well done!  Set specific goals and reward yourself when you achieve it. A healthy reward like a one-hour medical massage is a great choice.  In addition to being relaxing, a medical massage reduces stress, increases circulation and relieves pain.

Stick to your chiropractic care routine

Dr. Ressler, Oviedo and Winter Springs chiropractor, uses a special tool called an “Activator” which corrects misalignment of the spine without twisting of the neck or low back. He can prescribe stretches or an exercise routine specifically tailored to your condition. Chiropractic is a safe and effective way to keep you pain free and on track to a healthy lifestyle.  When your spine is aligned and your muscles are flexible you have optimal range of motion in your joints. By having proper range of motion, you lower your risk of getting injured while exercising and it enables your muscles to work optimally.
