-Drinking water is the number one way to keep your body hydrated. Make sure to consume at least 64 ounces of water a day. Drink throughout the day to have a continues supply of fluids for your body. Once you are dehydrated it is too late and takes 1-2 days to recover.
-Avoiding alcohol and caffeine is a great way to steer clear of dehydration. This is because alcohol (beer, wine, liquor) and caffeinated drinks (coffee, tea, energy drinks) will actually remove water from your body.
-Do you have trouble drinking water on a regular basis? A great solution is to make sure you have water with you. Get a 16 oz bottle of water and carry it with you during the day. When you have water next to you, you will drink it. If you have to go look for it or walk around trying to find it, you won’t do it!! Just refill the bottle 2-3 times during the day. This will help you to drink fluids throughout the day.
-Don’t like the taste of water? Try adding fruits such as strawberries, lemon, lime or blueberries to a bottle or glass of water. This will enhance the taste without the addition of large amounts of sugar found in juices.
-If you are going to participate in outdoor activities, try planning them during the early morning hours or after the peak hours of the sun. This will ensure you avoid any strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
